Lateral Attorney - 7/28/2016

We are always considering potential lateral attorneys to join our firm.  Candidates typically have 7+ years of continuous practice (USPTO and state bar) along with expertise in various intellectual property areas including patent prosecution, opinions, patent infringement, and trademarks.  Candidates should have an established and portable book of business (at least $500K).

Patent Support Specialist - 12/14/2016

Westerman, Hattori, Daniels & Adrian, LLP has an opening for a Prosecution Support Specialist. 

Summary:

Patent Support Specialists are individuals who are taught to have a sufficient understanding of IP prosecution and terminology.

Projected Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file Information Disclosure Statements (IDS) post completion of the Application filing.
  • Manage prior art files for duty of disclosure matters in US patent cases.
  1. Input prior art references into firm software for submission to the USPTO.
  • Review and prepare reporting letters to clients regarding Official Filing Receipts, Notices of Acceptance and Notices of Publication.
  • Review and prepare reporting letters to clients regarding Non-Final Office Actions, Final Office Actions, Restriction Requirements and Election Species Requirement.
  • Handle and process company to company assignment requests.
  • Fully adhere to firm confidentiality standards to include, attorney-client correspondence and communications.
  • Adhere to internal timetable for handling and clearing the department docket.
  • Prepare, review and edit billing invoices.
  • Copy, scan and save all communications in the appropriate folder.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in patent prosecution required.

Knowledge and Expertise

  • Required:
  1. Minimum high school diploma.
  2. Knowledge of and experience with standard office equipment such as computers, fax machines, copiers and scanners.
  3. Great attention to detail, including organization, accuracy, and ability to comprehend basic instructions.
  • Strongly preferred:
  1. Knowledge of and experience with general office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, etc.
  2. Experience in processing Information Disclosure Statements.
