Mr. Schertler has extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for clients, whether small or large, foreign or domestic. Additionally, Mr. Schertler provides legal opinions involving infringement, validity and patentability, and analyzes infringement, validity and patentability searches. Mr. Schertler’s practice focuses on electrical and computer technologies, with particular expertise in the areas of computer architecture, computer networks, computer storage systems, communications systems, coding and encryption, digital logic structures, and microprocessor based systems.
Prior to joining WHDA, Mr. Schertler spent several years as an Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the examining group for computer architecture, software and information security.
Mr. Schertler regularly lectures to the Japanese Intellectual Property Association, and has regularly presented in-house lectures and training seminars on a variety of topics.
