Patent Attorney - 4/19/2022
Job Description: Work in the capacity as a patent attorney representing patent applicants by preparing and prosecuting their patent applications before the USPTO. Assist preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications under the U.S. patent and trademark systems; Prepare legal opinion letters on patents and trademarks; Advise clients on patent and trademark licensing issues; Conduct legal research and prepare analysis related to licensing evaluation and intellectual property rights; Work with the firm's litigation team in representing clients in intellectual property disputes; Conduct seminars on U.S. Intellectual property laws to current and prospective clients; Write articles on the U.S. Intellectual property laws; Review and verify facts and sources cited in the legal documents, trial materials and exhibits; Respond to inquiries from clients regarding legal issues involving U.S. intellectual property rights; Provide English-Japanese translations for matters related to patents and trademarks, including patent applications and documents related to prosecution before the USPTO.
Minimum Requirements: JD or Master of Law in Law req. 36 months of patent application preparation related experience. Must have a license to practice law in any state or DC. Must be registered, or have received limited recognition, to practice before USPTO at the time of employment. Must be able to draft English patent-related documents such as specifications, amendments, remarks, based on Japanese materials. Must have strong communication and writing skills in English and Japanese.
