We are pleased to announce that Mr. Alan Cooper, a former Wiley Rein LLP attorney who focuses on trademark practice, has joined our firm.
Mr. Cooper specializes in trademark and unfair competition law and related litigation. He has represented trademark owners for more than 25 years, acting as lead counsel in numerous trademark infringement, trademark dilution, trade dress infringement, and false advertising actions in federal courts throughout the U.S., and in inter partes registration proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. These cases have involved the marks of prominent Fortune 500 companies. In addition, he regularly designs and implements trademark policing programs to protect clients’ marks against infringing, counterfeit and diluting usages, including monitoring the marketplace and cyberspace to identify objectionable uses and prioritizing enforcement actions. Mr. Cooper also advises clients on the creation of U.S. and foreign trademark registration programs, including the development of strategies to lessen the chances that competitors will be able to challenge those registrations. He is a member of the Advisory Board of BNA’s Patent Trademark & Copyright Journal. He is also one of the co-authors of the ABA treatise A Legal Strategist's Guide to Practice Before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
